I might get one , but they look like they may be a bit bulky. Looking at a two dimensional picture they look perfectly round. Im thinking it would be like carrying a shotgun shell in the pocket.

More bulk than a Soddie.
I like light and slim. My Boker Trance is perfect.

Depends on which Opinel you are talking about. The smaller ones are not as big as your index finger, so you can get the one that suits you.

I think thats a No. 6 on top, though I would not swear to it:

Depending on the size of your hands, a #7 or #8 might be ideal. Yes they are quite ellipsoid, indeed wider than for example a Trance, but I never saw it really as an issue. And it IS a very comfortable handle. At the price and considering the classic status every knife nut should try an Opinel, in my opinion

Opinels are more 3D than other knifes with similar blade dimensions. However, with that wooden handle, they are extremely light in the pocket.

The Opinel profiles are very round, a shotgun shell being a good comparison. But they can be customized and slimmed down, are available in many different sizes including much smaller than a shotgun shell, and are very lightweight. Although the larger models will be bulky in a pants pocket, the light weight makes them unobtrusive.

No.6 is small, but the standard No.8 is not at all bulky as it is light in weight but not in talents or action.Remember, it has no liners or spring to add weight, just the blade, pivot and locking collar.

It's an authentic&versatile knife with an impressively simple locking collar that makes it extremely practical.Carbon steel sharpens well, stainless is useful in food prep&picnics.

it's relatively bulky but when you take into account the size of blade that you can get in what is not really a very big or heavy folder then it turns into a very sensible compromise.
