How busy is the repair shop?

I have a couple of Bucks I would like to send in? One is a 513 I bought, that has someone elses name engraved on it. I would like to see if they would be able to buff it out and how much it will cost. The other is a 110 that I may have bent the back spring push cutting branches. I just wanted to make sure they were not backed up in the repair dept. before I sent them in. I have since bought a 503, and that is one sweet little knife that packs a good bit of blade in a small handle. Thanks Buck for such great knives  .

Thanks,
John

I think their busiest time is December and January, right after hunting season (when all of us hunters abuse our knives!). They strive for a 4 week turnaround, but your mileage may vary. There have been some recent threads here about longer service times, but I had two different knives done and back to me in under three weeks.

One tip is to address your package to "BKI" instead of Buck Knives, Inc. to reduce the chance of a postal employee delivering the package to themselves. Also consider getting the package insured and/or return receipt.

Hello John,
We are still at close to 4 weeks but trying to get that down to 2.
On the 513, we don't have a way to buff off the engraving on the handle. Our buffing wheels are about 12" in diameter and they would pretty much wipe out all the scroll work if we tried.
The 110 does not sound like anything we cant handle though.

Thanks guys for the fast replies. I am not in any hurry to get the knives back, I just did not want to add to the pile of hard worked Bucks if the repair dept. was a little behind because of busy season. I will get the 110 sent off soon.

Thanks for the advise Messersmith. I will lable the box just as you say ;) .

I guess I can try to buff the name out of the 513 with my dremmal, if possible.

Thanks again,
John
