How can Cold Steel guarantee that their products are not made in sweatshops?

I'm learning about Cold Steel knives due to their impressive lock strength tests. It seems in other industries and markets, brands go to some length to indentify their products as "cruelty free" and "manufactured under humane working conditions". Is this info available from Cold Steel? How can I be sure one of their knives was not made in a sweatshop, or using child labour? Is there any independent body that can verify these things? The good ole "trust us" might not be enough in this case. Any and all comments are encouraged on this thread.

What's the point in enjoying freedom, and a great hobby collecting knives, if it means someone suffers somewhere else?

Stop being butt hurt about the Sebenza test. FWIW they are made is Taiwan, not China. My advice is stop while you are ahead.

The G.I. Tanto and the non-Bowie "Bushman" are made in China. At least that is what is stamped on mine. There are undoubtably more Cold Steel knives made in China, but I do not know which models. The KUDU and ELAND, perhaps? Cold Steel also has at least some of their machetes made in South Africa.

As for the OP's concerns of Cold Steel (or any other "name brand" knife company) having their product made in sweat shops, it is not going to happen. First off, the quality would not be there. Blades would be loose, the fit of the components would be bad, and so on. The Chinese knives, for example, made for Buck, Taylor Brands, (Schrade) Rough Rider, Colt, Marbles, and I would presume, Cold Steel, are made in NON GOVERNMENT OWNED modern factories.

Chill out guys, he said he was impressed by the lock strength tests that Cold Steel has been showing as of late. Maybe he just wants to feel comfortable with his first Cold Steel purchase?

Touche'

All of mine have been branded Taiwan. Either way, as you said they are modern factories owned by a US company (or plural as you pointed out). You forgot Kershaw, Benchmade and Spyderco ;).

Of course he called Mr. Demko a second rate douchebag over in the CRK forum in reaction to the Sebenza test, so I think his comment may be a wee bit disingenuous.

I believe Cold Steel is perfectly capable of moderating its own forum. WhaI wii do is close this thread, which they can reopen and comment on as they think best.

I would like to remiind the members that courtesy is the best policy when it comes to these discussions. For example, the original post sounds a lot like "when did you stop beating your wife?" Throwing out a challenge works best when you've done your homework, not just speculating with no facts. That would be trolling.
