My membership expired today. I discovered this because I was not able to browse the Political forum. After renewing my membership, and while viewing Political, I noticed that "2 members and 3 guests are browsing" the Political forum. How can this be?

I believe you can adjust your profile settings to stealth mode, so your green light and SN won't appear in a thread. Probably a stealthy paying member.

No, I'm fairly sure that members who have the stealth mode on show up under # of members, their name just doesn't appear in the list. I just logged out and tried, and sure enough I could read the threads in Political.

As to how or why, probably just a permission that was overlooked, but that's just a guess.

The software allows different access level settings for various sub forums. Political is browsable by anyone, and can be searched by outside search engines (google etc). Some forums, like Whine and Cheese, can only be viewed when logged in, and are not searchable by outside engines.

Political, being a subforum of Current Events, isn't visible on the main page list regardless of being logged in or subscription.

Political is browsable by anyone
It ain't suppose to be.

and can be searched by outside search engines (google etc).
It ain't suppose to be. The last thing we need is to pull in political ph'tards from all over the net. :thumbdn:

I thought anyone could read the Political Arena, but only paying members could post there.

Well, if it's any help to you, I can enter the forum and thus "browse" it, but I dont see any threads (from any date, no old ones either). Either you political guys have been really quiet lately, or being able to enter and browse the forum doesn't help me (or a guest for that matter) much.

I can't see any posts in the Political Arena when logged in, but for some reason I can read threads when not logged in at all. Weird.
