Hi guys.

Over here, i cant read or view so many things on the web. Is there a way to view blocked web pages and addresses?

I am not a computer genious mind you.

Acording to a friend who served in saudi arabia, they have very stict laws on media and if you are found out they will do very bad things to you. like decapatate you.
he may have been messing but I don't think so.

naa, its not that serious regarding the net. Unless it is used to publish propaganda and I am not planning that.

I just want to be able to serf freely.

There is Tor.

If you have two linux boxes (i.e, one here, one on the outside) then it is pretty easy to bypass the saudi filters, just type "ssh -2 -D 3210 (server name or ip address) -l (loginname)" and then change Firefox's web proxy settings to point at "localhost" port "3210".

On your home box, if it changes its IP occasionally, you can install the client at no-ip.com and it will automatically update yourname.no-ip.info to point to your computer.

You can also shell out 6.95 a month for webhosting with bluehost.com. Then just SSH into your webserver. (I do this all the time on the campus network because that way I bypass their traffic controls--instead of 150k I get 980k!)

depending on the capabilites of the proxy server you might be able to get around it with the old babelfish trick

Go to babelfish and choose to translate a whole page, select english as both the source and target translation address and babelfish will display the page in english but act as a proxy. Some proxy servers are wise to this and will block it. It depends on how they are filtering traffic, if they are looking for key words for example then this wouldnt work.

Be careful - you are hacking which is illegal in most countires. Personally I wouldnt do anything questionable in Saudi Arabia! I think the problem could arise if someone were to find out and accuse you of doing something illegal. You have by passed the proxy server so there are no local records of what you have been doing. Even if you can prove what you've been doing it will take time to dig that information out, time you might spend in a saudi jail!
