Hello everyone i have a question.I found my father's old bayonet in our cellar. There was some rust on it and i searched about it in google. There was an adice and it says you should put your knife in vinegar and salt mix and made but i didn't do it for whole knife(i cant find a bowl who takes whole knife). Then i saw some stains between with vinegar side and without vinegar side. Then i made same mix for whole knife but stans didn't go what can i do for it?

Maybe try a Mr Clean dry eraser? Or a regular pink eraser.

Vinegar and salt both contribute to patina on a carbon steel blade. If you want to get rid of it, rub some metal glo (or similar) on the blade with a lightly balled piece of foil.

I used eraser and now its better.I have no metal glo but i will go a bladesmith propably after quarantine thank u both.
