My extra coarse and coarse Lansky hones have lost a lot of their cutting ability.
The seem to kind of "slide" over the knife edge instead of cutting. :grumpy:

Is their any way to "refresh" them?

Thanks.

i had an ez sharp that was similar to a lansky. when my stones quit cutting i would spray them with carb cleaner first and if that didnt work i would rub them on a new concrete block to flatten them back out and get past the dulled surface of the stone.

What Richard said should work. I dont own a lansky, but to clean my sharpening stones I poor clean sand over a flat concrete surface and "scrub 'em flat".

Rub a pink eraser over the surface and it will pull a lot of the clogging out. Comet cleanser and a scotchbrite pad will work too. I have also used Easy-off oven cleaner to clean them.

Are we saying this stone is 'glazed' or 'clogged' or are these the same thing?
