Click the edit button on this post and look at how I used the img UBB tags.

OR

Click as if you were going to post a new message. Click "*UBB Code is ON" for a list of UBB codes.

To post a picture, you either use html code, which is somewhat complicate, or you use UBB codes. To just post pictures, UBB is simple.

The problem is that I can't tell you how to insert a UBB code because if I type one in my message, the software will interpret it instead of displaying it. So, bear with me on this and I will tell you how to make your picture come up.

UBB codes are always enclosed in square brackets: [ and ]. In order to fool the system into letting me show you the codes, I'm going to replace the square brackets with "curly braces": { and }. When you go to actually make your post, just remember to use square brackets instead of curly braces.

First, your image must already be posted on some website somewhere. Because of space limitations, bladeforums.com will not host your picture for you. If you don't have web space somewhere, try photopoint.com.

To insert a picture, start making your post as usual. Then, open a second browser window and navigate to the image you want to include. Place your cursor on that image and right-click on that image. From the pop-up menu, select "Copy Image Location". This will place the image's URL into your copy/paste buffer.

Return to the first browser window where you are forulating your post and add a line beginning with

{img}

Remember, I'm using curly braces to fool the system. You'll use square brackets so that the system will recognize the code.

Then, right-click and select "Paste" from the pop-up menu. This will paste the image's URL into your posting.

Finally, end the line with {/img}.

So, the complete line might look like this (notice that, to further fool the bladeforum software, I've omitted one of the t's in the http part of the URL):

{img}htp://www.balisongcollector.com/bm42/42straightS.JPG{/img}

Now, if I was to put this line in adding back that missing t and replacing those curly braces with square brackets, here's what would happen

42straightS.JPG

Good luck with it. I know you can get it to work.

Oh, by the way, as a general courtesy, it's generally best to keep images that you insert into posts less than 600 pixels wide and less than 50K total file size. The image shown above is 450 pixels wide and 29K. If you want to make a larger image available for people, that's great, but just post a link to it and invite interested people to go to that link.

The image show above can be seen larger (800 pixels wide, 135K, by clicking here

And how I got that to work is also a matter of UBB codes, but I'll leave it to you to review the online documents on UBB usage to figure that one out.

The instructions given work if you're using Netscape. To copy an image's URL If you're using Internet Explorer, right-click on the image, select "properties" from the pop-up menu, highlight the URL (be sure to highlight the whole thing since the resulting properties box is quite narrow and URLs are sometimes quite long which forces IE to break the URL onto multiple lines) which is given in about the middle of the properties box which will appear, right-click on the highlighted URL, select "Copy" from the pop-up menu.

You can paste the URL into your post in much the same way.
