a particular knife has?
OK, I know what the chisel, hollow, saber, flat grind, and so on and so forth are supposed to look like, but the grinds on my knives are difficult to see.
Is there an easy way to tell?

a hollow grind could look like a flat, depends on how wide the blade and the grind is and what wheel was used... the bigger the wheel the "flater" the grind... i just hold the knife, with the tip pointing to my nose, in front of my face and look, normaly you should be able to see what kind of grind it is...

ps: sorry for my sucking english

Ray, your English is better than that of most native-speakers; no need to apologize. That aside, one way to tell a grind is to hold a straight edge along the flat of the blade; this gives you a nice visual reference to compare the curvature (or lack thereof) in the blade's grind. If the straight-edge touches the blade evenly all along, it's a flat grind; if it doesn't touch in the middle it's hollow grind, and if it only touches in the middle it's a convex grind.

Burke's right. I use the edge of a business card to see whether it's hollow or flat ground if it's not obvious.
