I think that in Bura's mind he has this image of what the proportions of a narrow blade khukuri should be.
To wit;
I bought the 18" Chitlangi that was one of Yandu's clearance specials and received it today (the usual quick HI shipment, thanks!). I pulled it out of the scabbard and thought "Man, this feels a lot like my Siru."; so off to get the Siru I go. This Sirupati is one my favorites khukuries and is also one of the first I got from Uncle Bill several years ago.
Yeah, this Chitlangi is a lot like my Siru: (Apologies about the photo quality)
The Siru on top of the Chit:
Vice versa:
The new Chit is beautifully executed except for a stutter in regards to how the rings line up on the handle. This is my first in a while and I'm not real enthused about the new marking. Seems a little cluttered, maybe putting the new mark ( did we ever find out what it signifies?) on the other side would look better (IMO). It also came sharp, though I haven't cut anything with it.
I'm not sure if I'll keep it or pass it on as doesn't fill any niche that my Siru won't.
Regards,
Greg
