How come nothing new from Victorinox?

I love my SAK's, but how come they never come out with new models?

Seems like lots of people have been asking for various changes and they are very unresponsive to customer requests.
For example:
1) locking blades (on 93mm or smaller)
2) an alox models with scissors and/or tweezers
3) newer models with different tool configurations -- more thinner 2 layer models (I personally could do without the can opener/corkscrew)

There are probably reasons why they haven't, but come on already, show some innovation and make it happen -- your customers want it.

Over the years, people have lobbied for customized, do-it-yourself SAKs, but Victorinox has not responded. I don't blame them, because we SAK freaks may not buy 9 SAKs looking for the Holy Grail if we could design the "perfect" one from the outset. I'd like to see more flavors as well, both SAKs and multitools.

We are just a fraction of a percentage of Victorinox's knife business. Given their large scale production techniques, it would most likely not be cost effective to provide these changes for such a small audience.

Most people who carry a SAK but aren't SAK enthousiasts appreciate the SAK they carry in their pocket and are happy with the functions their SAK provides. It are mainly people like us who want Victorinox to come up with new models. :-)

But if I remember well, Victorinox did come up with some new models in the last decade. The 111mm range, the new Soldier, some other military models, models with improved scales, the Tomo and maybe some other models too.

I'd like to see some more alox models; like a Cadet with scissors or a Farmer with inline philips screw driver like the Explorer has.

Don't forget to check the special offerings made/imported by SwissBianco - their Bushcrafter from last year is a great compliment to my fixed-blade woods knife.

Probably this, plus with annual sales in the 35 to 40 million knives per year, and being the biggest maker of folding knives in the world, they may feel like they don't have to cater to a minority. When your number 1, you can be like that.:D

Well, We Think There Are A LOT Of SAK Enthusiasts. Which There Are, If You're Looking At The World On A SMALL Scale. There Are Over 6 Billion People In The World 1 Billion Probably Carry An SAK, Maybe 2 At Most. 1 - 2 Million Are Probably SAK Nuts. So We're A Minority. Plus People Gift Them Like Crazy Even If They Don't Carry One, And They Stay With The Already Made Models For That.

So That Could Be A HUGE Part Of It. =]

What I want to know is, when is Victorinox going to come out with a new multi-tool?? I much prefer them over Leatherman and I have the Spirit and the Swisstool, but I want more!
