How come nobody makes the issue pilots survival knife with a hollow grind a full tang and micarta handle? Keeping the exact shape and size of the original maybe in D2. How come someone dosen't make a kydex open top sheath for a balisong butterfly? Maybe a crossdraw or inside the pants? Or how come if someone has I haven't seen them? Maybe i just don't get out enough. Oh well just wondering.

I'm sure that any number of custom makers would do your pilots survival knive just the way you want it.

And I'm sure that Clay can make your sheath for you just the way you want it.

Because both have limited markets I believe big manufacturers do not make them since sales ("demand") would not make production ("supply") feasable, ie. cost effective. Especially because the "issue" pilotes knife is already produced (not to your preferred specifications, however) by Camillus and Ontario, market would be small indeed.
However, I'm sure you can find a maker here who will make exactly what you want- to your specifications, preferred steel, handle, grind, "soft spine" etc- all for reasonable price and time, just ask. Also you can find many who make any kind of kydex sheath you would like, also just ask.

martin j nailed it right there.

There are enought custom makers out there that you could have just about anything created that you could dream up.

For Example...

A local maker is making me a 31.498cm lucite bladed, full tang, hollow handled survival knife/oyster schucker/tie-tac. It's gonna have a ceramic sheath with the words, "I got lots of extra money" lazer engraved into it. Then the entire set-up will be triple-galvanized and he'll add 1,200 coats of Thompsons Water Seal cause of the rain up here in Washington. Gotta protect my investment!!!!

Just kidding.

I normally would suggest you to go with Normark for kydex sheaths, but since it's a butterfly... don't! It'll be gone in Canadian customs.....
