How common is a Boguszewski Spike lockback?

I never owned a Boguszewski knife, but I always liked the look of his Spike and hoped to have one one day. I always thought they were linerlocks, but I saw one that was a lockback with dual thumb studs. Anyone know if this was very common? I found an email address for him in an old post, but I thought I would ask here before emailing him.

Thanks. Matt

The Spike is the knife that put Phil on the map so to speak.
The lockback, dual thumbstud version was/is the most common custom rendition it seems. It also seems like he made most of them back in the early 90's. They're great knives and were reasonably priced.

Thanks. There is surprisingly little info on him or Spikes on the net (using Google), including no apparent web site.

The Spike lockback was one of the 1st handmades I got.It was around 1987 and its still as good as when I first received it.

Those Cobra's are sweet. Someday, I will have one.

I also have been surprised by the general lack of web based information for this maker. I have found knife purveyors with his work pictured but, never a web site provided by the maker. I always like to see a maker's web site so that I can monitor which shows they will be at and make my plans accordingly.

Same here. Recently picked up two of his older knives that I can't find any info on. 1 is the Tri-folder, and the other is a Gold Anodized Ti handled version of his Stilletto, that Cold Steel based their Ti-Lite on. If anyone have any info on these two, I'd greatly appreciate it...

Are the lockbacks and otherwise-smilar linerlock models similar in value? BladeArt has a micarta-handled linerlock for $385, IIRC; would a micarta-handled lockback be similar in value? Matt

I do'nt believe Phil makes the lockback model any more but if he did I'm sure it would be cheaper. The materials should be less(no titanium).Back in the late 80s I bought the lockback spike for $125 and his folding boot knife for $175.Around that time there was an article in Blade magazine about him.One of the things it said was Phil was one of those rare makers that began his career building folders and did'nt start with straight blades.
