Looking at the pics, it looks like the Kris cutlery katana's blade is really curved, much more than is "normal" ir is it just the pic.

Thanks
Mike

I have a Kris Cutlery 29" Katana. It does have more of a curve than most swords you would see for sale.

Kris Cutlery swords are hand made and each one is unique. I have 2 Bonifacio Bolos, and they do not have the same length and blade shape.

There is no real "normal" but KC swords tend to have a fairly deep curve, most between 3/4" and 1" depth. There's nothing really wrong with this, some people just like somewhat straighter blades. Up to you.

I was wondering because of the pics, Right now it is up between the kc 29, 26 katanas and the "korean" sword which is sorta of a straight katana. I just don't know if I would give up any cutting ability with the straight blade over the back curved blade or vis versa.

Thanks
Mike

I forgot to mention that I am also concidering the criswell katana, now that the ring has been droped and the blade reprofiled a bit

the curvature does not *really* affect cutting ability.

What do you plan on cutting, how are you going to use it, what tradition are you practicing under? It's always best to get your teacher's OK before getting something...

My KC 29 does not have an excessive curve. You may want to consider the 26 though. I love my 29 but it is tip heavy. Depending on your style, size and strength, many people have trouble with the 29. I'll confess it took me 30 hours of hard practice before I really felt good with the 29. I've never heard anyone complain about the 26.
