How delicate is the Kershaw Leek tip.

I'm concerned that the Leek tip is a little delicate for my tasks. What is the most abusive thing you've done to the tip of your leek. The most abusive thing I do to my knives is slightly jab PVC when I need to cut away the insolation. Would you say the Leek can handle that task?

I lost a tip on my Leek to hard use. I wouldn't recommend it if you're jabbing PVC. I'd wager you'd lose a tip even faster than you'd like.

I used mine to help remove a hinge pin on a door once. Not the best use for it but it stood up to it. As long as you are very careful you should be ok. It is tougher than you think!

If you want to do some jabbing I would get one of the composite blems from Kershawguy. They are like $38 shipped and are full flat ground, so the tip is almost twice as thick as the hollow ground version.

I have the S30V with black G10 and it's also flat ground. They're more than $38 though.

I would recommend the 1660cb, really really holds an edge and very resistant to damage because of the d2

I don't use my Leeks for particularly rough tasks, but they haven't given me any trouble. Besides, we all know how great Kershaw's CS is, so I'd say use away!

I already have a Leek from a trade. I'm just asking if the tip will survive use.

Some say.... it has the ability to cut through super glue! ....And that I just made that up.... all we know is its called the sti....er leek.

I haven't found the tip on my CB Leek to be particularly fragile. I don't pry with it or anything, but I have put some weight behind it when cutting, and I've threaded it through some tight spaces under nylon zip ties to cut them off. No bends or breaks yet. I don't know how the regular Leeks compare to the composite blade though.

I bent the tip pretty bad on a leek once trying to pry the lid off of a drum that had froze shut...abuse I know but it was all that I had on me. It took all the force I could muster to bend it, and the same to bend it back. They hold up well for being so thin. I would use it if I were you, just remember that all folders fold and the leek can get pretty sharp.
