a first year 124 (white spacers)? Not sure I like the wraparound phenolic handle but having one this old would be kind of nice. Were there really only 300-500 made?

Per Joe Houser in an old thread "This was followed by a production model that was offered in 1967 with either a diving sheath (NEMO) or a flap leather sheath (FRONTIERSMAN). Both were the same knife, other than the sheath. They made roughly300-500 of these and they had black phenolic handles with white teflon spacers."

Below is a teflon spacer and a customer service custom. Both have Nemo sheaths. The teflon spacer knives are hard to find.

Thanks That's basically what I found on the BCCI website from the 12/6 newsletter. Was just wondering if there were any findings over the last 10 years that might expand on what Joe wrote? Nice looking knives by the way!

hammer, your model is very collectable and hard to find. gsea, thanks for supplying the good photo. DM

Please note there are two 124/122 versions with white Teflon. The first issue was stamped BUCK* and had 4 butt pins (only 50 of these were made). Then the ones stamped BUCK USA with one butt pin (300 - 500 of these were made). As gsea said these are hard to find in good condition these days and are a fantastic addition to a Buck knife collection.

Didn't know about the two Teflon versions, Thanks jb. I know there were 50 or so "prototypes" done first with the hole centered in the pommel. That would be a find.
