How did I do?

I was playing around making a bowie out of a rasp and realized that I had done something wrong when a portion of the blade curled pretty easily after I dropped it and the edge landed on a 2x4.

So... I destroyed it. And took a shot of the grain when it busted.

For reference, would you call this course grain?

The grain looks pretty big imho. When I've had some blades explode during a water quench, I usually can't see grains at all on the hardened portion. However the unhardened portion looks similar to your picture.
