How did you get into Bladeforums?

I was into knives and multitools more than a decade ago but about two years ago, a friend of mine who's a member here told me that if I wanted to learn and find out more about knives then I should join Bladeforums.

He said it was a fun place to be and there were a lot of serious knife knuts here. I took a quick peek and sort of sneaked in. The rest is history.

It turned out to be the longest roller-coaster ride of the century.
I must say I have picked up quite a bit of information on knives, knifemakers and other things which I otherwise wouldn't have been able to find by myself.

What's your Bladeforums story?

5 or 6 years ago I found a couple of knife forums while looking for information on a certain knife. I only lurked on because I never really felt like taking part. I read the information I needed and that was good enough. After awhile I drifted away. Then in 1999 I decided to check out the forums again and found BladeForums. Once again I only lurked for the first year or so, but then decided that this place was something I wanted to be part of. As they say, the rest is history.

Was doing a search for reviews on the EKI Commander and I stumbled across this place.

Was doing a search on the Spyderco Harpy (you don't have to ask why) and stumbled across this place.

I read a article by Ed Fowler in Blade Magazine. Looked up the web site and have been "hooked" ever since. I read everything that time allows me to on knives. This is an addiction.

I stumbled upon a place called Rec.knives somehow. I lurked, then participated in a few threads to a very limited degree.

The place then seemed to turn into hangout for trolls. Flamewars out of control. No civility there.

Bladeforums.com I just surfed on into. It was a lot smaller back then, maybe 3,000 members (this is my 2nd screen name), but remains a good place to hang out. :)

I linked here starting from CRK website. Been coming here for the absolute best news/advice/info on knives ever since.

Actually, I found this site looking for Terry Primos' website and to ask a question on sheaths and sheath makers in Florida. I lurked for awhile and have only added to a few threads. I mostly collect, so I've stayed and registered 'cause of the wealth of info... and for the Whine'n'Cheese forum... always good for a few yucks! :D

I think I read about the site in Blade Mag--checked it out and got hooked. (Also, my knife budget went through the roof:rolleyes: )

IIRC, I found it after Spark (known by another name by me at the time) posted about it on a email list service I subscribed to, way back in ... um... maybe 1998? Immediately came and checked it out, and been here ever since. :D Nice work, Spark.

I was staggering around drunk one night, I saw the lights on, and staggered in the door. I haven't left since.:D.

Actually, it was a link I followed at GlockTalk.com, and I liked what I saw here. I haven't left since.:).

I'm blaming Tom Carey for my introduction into this den of debauchery! He talked me into it. :)

He talked me into it, but I fell in love once I got here and haven't looked back since.

I did a Google search for pocket knives and found this joint. Since then I've been on a couple of the other knife related forums, but for some reason I keep coming back here. Maybe it's because I got the T Shirt?

PS: This place goes down in my book as the single most expensive website that I've ever visited (it's cost me a bunch of money already and I'm only just getting started!) .

found it several times when searching the net for various blades...I cant exactly remember what site it was....I looked around for about 3 mounths then I signed up :D

It was a dark and stormy night. The snows were blowing across the Florida plains....

Suddenly, there was a knock. A pounding repetative knocking. Boom, Boom, boom, boom...

So I threw open the door.... and it was nothing. Never mind. Darn those girl scouts.

<Back at the computer>

I was just typing those faithful words:

yahoo.com {return}
knife {return}
...and there it was. Knifeforums.com...

A couple of days later I came across a link to the Bladeforums, and I have been here ever since.

It was 1999, and a search for knives led me to one of Cliff Stamp's reviews in the Reviews forum. I thought "Wow, a website where people talk mostly about knives. Cool." About a month later I actually got my own computer with an internet connection and then most of my meager earnings started going towards newer and nicer knives. Plus my sharpening skills are remarkably improved.

A friend of mine told me about this forum, then I told another and he told his other friend who preached to his other friend, while more joined in as they told their other companions about this AWESOME domain and since then, I've been glued to the Asian and Australian knife Community.. *heh-heh!* :D
