I managed to get a little time in,,
I bagged the 6 point NICE 6 point too.. 177 lb's the rack scored at 127 inches gross. 24" beams..

the deer in the center is a 9 point at 169 lb's ,, the spike horn is a nice one too but we didn't weight that one.. that one was shot off the back of a doe believe that.... first time I've seen that

The two bigger deer had Zero fat, I've never seen so little fat on a deer before..they would have had a rough time this winter..

mmmm venison! I would eat venison rather than beef any day... and I really like beef. Congrats on a safe and productive season :)

Wow, that's cool, G. :)

I did awesome this season... still got a nice shoulder left and plenty sausage... and I never went out in the woods! Girlfriend's sons shot more than they could eat, so I got the rest.

Nice haul Dan.
Here's part of what I did Saturday.
Total of 115# of venison/pork sausage smoked over a hickory/oak fire . Yum!!

I got a little doe on the last day. Nothing to brag about sadly. I am going to see about a shooting a hog in the next few weeks to mix with the doe meat for some sausage.

Only thing I killed weighed 1000 pounds and went "Moo".

I miss old "T-bone"

We'll be picking him up in packages soon :D

heheeheh the 2 most popular names for critters here in wPa among the 4Hcrowd is Tbone and Porkchop.

G, very Cool... I like to see the young ones get out there.. they will be hunters for life , I'm sure of that ... way to go

Mark I'll bet you didn't have to track Old T-Bone very far did you? :D

Jerry I'll have to try some Red deer some day,, we have two farms of them close by.. that's where I get some of my handle materail :)

Bruce ,, that's a lot of sausage :eek: :thumbup::D

We normaly hunt for the meat , but a nice rack sometimes is good too..:)
no one I hunt with got a doe permit last season so we had to hunt bucks only.. though, we did OK,,, the over all deer kill last year here in Maine was way down.. last winter was hard on them,,.. way to go guys

I filled the freezer, that's about it. I did make the shot of my life, though. Picture a fair 4 point on a flat out run at 250yds. I hit him perfect... right behind that shoulder. He was dead before the next hoof hit. I know this because he hit and rolled so hard that it broke both antlers out down to his brain. I thought I hit him in the head, but there was no exit wound. Never bled a drop either. I never would have believed it if I wasn't there.

He was also very lean. He had been rutting pretty hard. The doe I shot was FAT.

Kids and critters and guns, I get a kick outta seeing that!! In 30 yrs they will still have that same glow to their eyes. Great pictures Greg!
Hey Dan, them Maine deer don't get very big, do they?? (BOG)

we're keeping Daddy around for a few more years to spread his seed .. :D

I was lucky twice last year. I got a bull and a whitetail.

I started making knives last winter, so last fall was my first chance to use them on game. I skinned, quartered, deboned, and caped the whitetail all with one knife that only has a 2.75 inch blade (my "Gurbur" wouldn't have handled all that cutting with out re-sharpening:D). It was about 2km pack out from where I shot it. The moose was luckly only 125 yards from the road:thumbup:.

Good show Bruce i agree until you have used a quality knife you don't realy know what edge holding realy is.

Bob

good harvest Bruce

that is a nice deer for the points too, did you have it weighed ?

and that Moose should be good eating for a little one ;) :D:D

a hunting buddy,, one of the ones pictured above with me shot a bull a few years ago that almost went 1100 pounds.. nice rack but the meat was like shoe leather, even the loins :barf:

I agree you've got to love custom made blades done right
way to go...

Speaking of blades, I can't believe none of you guys posted pics of your favorite hunting knives! *hint hint*
