How did you pick your 2nd CR?

I currently have a small regular and carry it everywhere for the past couple of years. I feel a strong need for a large model. I am taken by the african inlays, but also like the Umn and Insingo.

I am curious as to which you think is a good 2nd choice for edc? How well do the inlay models hold up?

Funny that I feel naked without my Seb.

The inlays hold up real well. I have a blackwood Mnandi that I use at work for the last 8 years. It gets no special treatment and to be fair it doesn't get used hard. It gets scratched but its no big deal. The large micarta is just about indestructable. I like the large Insingo, it cuts like crazy and its different. For EDC I prefer the stonewashed blade. It hides scatches well and doesn't show fingerprints.

Just to add to Scott Dog's post, I'll add that the micarta inlaid Sebenza is the only one that comes with the stonewashed blade as it's intended to be more of a "working knife". It also has blasted handles rather than the polished ones you will find on other inlays. Just a few things to consider depending on your application.

I definately second the stonewashed. It hides near every scratch and scuff you could put on it unless its very deep. I have wanted a micarta large 21 sebenza for quite some time as I have heard its about indestructable and great for edc, just like stated above, but just never pulled the trigger on one Yet....lol. I am sure one will come across my way sooner or later.

Man once I bought my first Sebenza I could'nt quit, and now I have 2 Umnumzaan's. Plus I just ordered my second inlay from CRK large Ebony. There is no end to the madness.

I like the look of the plain Sebenza 21 with the raindrop damascus blade. I think it matches form with function perfectly!

My "first" was a Lg. Regular. I sold that quickly after receiving it, and probably one of the bigger mistakes I've made.

Then I got an Umnumzaan in a trade. After that another Lg. Regular.

The first is the hard one. After that they all seem to rush into your pockets. ;)

If you want something similar but a bit different go with the Insigno. If you want something different, but a bit similar go with the Umnumzaan. If you want to dress it up look at the wood inlay and damascus options. If you want to put it in jeans and a carhart, look at the Micarta inlays.

My first CRK was a small Sebenza 21 plain jane Ti and shortly after I went for the Large 21 plain Ti. On top of that I made sure I bought the Lg 21 used that way I wouldn't have any fear of breaking it in..

I love both and im sure I'll hunt down an inlayed seb down the road. I figured for a user I just wanted the plain Ti.

It is hard to pick between form and function. I am not a heavy knife user. I like to carry it and think of it more as a defense weapon with occasional cutting use.

I guess I see the newer Umn and Unsingo are a "improvement" in design, but I love the 21's.

I can't carry a knife at work, so it comes down to which looks best (inlay) and which would you want to have on hand in case...

Decisions...
