I sure wish I still had my first bali...

I made it from a Japanese paper fan, a bowie blade raped from a "hobo knife", a couple of rivets, and some solder in the handles to give it weight. I was about 8 or 9.
My dad foound it and took bolt cutters to it.
He said" I didn't say you couldn't make one, I said you couldn't have one."
That was sad....

My freind bought it from a Louisiana gas station. The box said Butterfly Knife Stainless PK-1701 on it i think. And it was $11.95

Um... my first secondary(guess you call it that) market purchase of a knife.

Bought it off a kid at a scout meeting a long time ago.

Don't think my parents know about that to this day.

I got my first CCC at the flea market. It's one of those all black made in Taiwan jobs that has the dragons embossed on the handles. I still have it after 8 years and haven't broken the pins yet. It is wobbly and dull but I can still flip it really well.

I was 17, it was after curfew, and I was in Tijauana. He wanted $40 for it, I paid $10. Then I walked back across the boarder with it in my pocket, praying that there were not metal detectors.

I got my first real Balisong over in the Philippines when my brother in law showed me the one he carried. It was a 5" bone handled one & I asked him where I could buy one. He took me to the local chinese owned department store and they had a case full of maybe 100 balisong and no two of them were alike, they were all different. I bought about five of them at the time.

For a while, I was sending my brother in law money and having him ship them over here to me. I maybe sold two or three hundred of them that way. But now the guys over in manila with computers are offering to have Batangas Balisong custom made for people. So that is pretty much where people are going to get them now. Thanks, JohnR7

I got mine from this indoor flea market that's there every weekend. it was somewhat beat-up, but it served me well

TheOne,
I think the PK reference is a very Chinese reference. I bought some bali in Shanghai (see the photos here :
http://www.balisong.net/en/world.htm) and they were names PKxxx.
Their price was about 1USD :-) but it's really crap.
There's no name of a company on the boxes. Maybe it's a "cooperative"... One day, I'll find.

A friend had bought a 1" hey chain bali. That got me interested,so I called around and found a shop that was selling them not to far from home. I was 12 or 13. Told him I was looking for a double edged one. He had some coming in latter that week. I went back and got a sigle edged Bear MGC ($28, lasted a year or two). That same friend pointed out to me that I was twice as likely to cut my finger off with a double edged Bali, than a single. Thank you to that friend!
