Have been waiting all week for my Fallk S1 to go on a camping trip. This is the day it's supposed to arrive, and we have to leave in 30 minutes for the trip. Guess what still hasn't arrived??? Freakin UPS....

Too bad, same thing somehow always happens with me, whenever i ordered a knife, and need it to arrive, it doesnt! What time does UPS usually come at your place?

Well, guess why I am posting here instead of camping? All the sites were closed down so I had to come back anyway. 6 hours later!!! But the funny thing was, as I was drving away I saw a UPS truck headed towards my house. And I had the nerve to follow it!!! Turned into my neighborhood, but didn't go to my house. Oh well.

Now I'm sitting here in an air conditioned home...
but with a new S1 :-).

I've found that UPS service can depend a lot on the drivers for the route. When a particular driver shows up at my house, it's always late in the evening or the day after the web site says it's out for delivery. When it's this other guy, it's usually mid afternoon. Coincidence, I think not.

I suspect that they tend to schedule the commercial deliveries first and the residentail deliveries last so that they are most likely to catch people at work during work hours and people at home in the early evening. It can be impossible to deliver a commercial package at 6 pm.

But one thing is certain, if you are waiting for it and have to go somewhere, it will always arrive 5 minutes after you leave, no matter how much you delay.

I much much prefer USPS Priority. UPS, at least in my experience, seems to take forever (slight exageration)! With Priority, I get stuff in 2 - 3 takes, instead of 7+ days.

.

That would only be logical
How many of you are at home from 8am to 4pm on business days? (that's delivery frame of Czech postal service :thumbdn: )

About a year ago, I was moving out of my apartment to relocate for a job. I had ordered a BM NRA folder a few weeks earlier. I lived in MA at the time and the seller on Ebay, Sawyer's Cutlery (also in MA) or Cove Cutlery (RI), I can't remember which, usually take a day to get to me USPS Priority Mail. The knife never arrived (lost in transit or returned to sender) and after a phone call to the store (extremely helpful), they agreed to send me another knife UPS. Well, as fate had it, the knife was set to arrive on the day I was supposed to move out of my apartment. I spent all morning waiting for the knife to arrive because every time I got something from UPS it arrived between 10 AM and noon. Come 2PM my brother got a break from work and we went for coffee and a last drive around the coast. I returned home about 2:45 and there was a UPS attempted delivery notice on the door to the building. I had asked for the knife to be left at the apartment complex office. Well, I phoned UPS and the girl (again, EXTREMELY HELPFUL) got in contact with the driver who agreed to meet me at a house about 5 miles away and let me pick up the knife. My brother and I zoomed off to meet him but caught the drawbridge and missed him as he had to continue on his deliveries. I went BACK to the apartment and my brother went to work. I now had only a few hrs left before I could turn in my key and go through the checkout process with the leasing manager. Lo and behold the girl from UPS calls AGAIN and tells me the driver is still willing to meet me at a Dunkin Donuts a town over. I shoot off and see the UPS truck, the guy gave me the knife, I tipped him and went home, moved out, and had a new knife in my pocket to boot!

I had a similar experience with buying a cricket on ebay this fall. The seller happened to be a member of the forums so I was confident that I was getting what I expected, and he shipped it USPS Priority. I had to make a flight that afternoon for Chicago to see my girlfriend (the cricket was for her mum) and I knew the knife would be there after I left. I made arrangements to have my brother send it to us in Chicago and left. The mail carrier always delivers mail around 5 PM and I was leaving at 2:30 for the airport. For some reason I stopped at the end of the driveway and checked the mail, and there was one package in it, a padded envelope containing, you guessed it, a black zytel serrated spyderco cricket!

After the countless missed deliveries and other mishaps with knife shipping, it was nice to have a couple that worked out great at the absolute last minute.

I have had several purchases and they have all arrived on time (been real lucky I guess).
I recently ordered a Tops 111A-T from a company in California, it was shown to be in stock. Got a purchase number from them E-mail and was set to get it in a couple of days. It has been almost three weeks now and contacting the company resulted in "the product is back ordered and will be shipped as soon as in stock again". Didn't slow them on charging my account though. Good thing my trip is delayable.

Happened to me with Rifleman`s Hawk.I was told it would arrived in a month. When it finally arrived, with two weeks delay, the thrill was gone.

Wow. Well my day wasn't as bad as that first story haha. But I was on edge the whole day, and it doesn't help every car that pulls into my neighborhood sounds like a UPS truck
