Ive owned and used just about all of the great swamp rat and scrap yard choppers and the two that really stand out are the Dogfather and the Rat Daddy. Both are light, fast, powerful and have great grips that can be used comfortably for extended periods of time.

I am curious as to how the DF and Rat Daddy compare to the B11, BWM, Various FBM's, and the NMFBM.

As of now I can't imagine a chopper being much better than the Rat Daddy. I had a KZII for a few months and while it was a BEAST it was hard on my arm and the grip didn't quite fit my hand. It was also heavy and a pain to carry.

I am interested to see head to head comparisons from actual users and hear your experiences. I still want to pick up a B11 and Battle Mistress but I want to hear about how they perform compared to the awesome choppers I already have.

And so this thread doesn't suck here's some eye candy :D

I am interested as well. I have nothing constructive to add to the thread other than to say nice knives, you have good taste

Love my DogFather too!

Here is one review

(Peter does some excellent reviews and very knowledgeable)

I think Horn Dog had one too, comparing many of the
DogFather sized choppers but I couldnt find it on just one cup
of coffee
maybe later :)

NMFBM with .25 inch blade, is a very user friendly and nimble blade but the thicker you get the heavier of course. I don't know how they compare because I don't have the other blades but if you have the funds a NMFBM added to your choppers would be a nice addition, again to me the .25 is the better choice.

Well, size matters, followed closely by handle shape and material. I like the NMFBM with hand-shaped handles, but I am really stuck on the MOAB.

Not being mean but every kin model chopper I had got ran over by my "INFI"!

THere is no comparison;) Especially since you have basics that get you close in price point.

If its big it best if its "INFI":)

Sounds like you'd like the SHBM and BWM. Since Jerry's probably about to re-issue a modern version of the SHBM ... you could be in luck.

I have a user SHBM that was polished up by a knifemaker friend of mine ... who turned a great edge into an incredible edge. It's just about my very best chopper, period.

As always, see if you can find a nearby hog or piglet who can loan you these so you can try 'em out yourself. I've no suggestions there as I've no idea where you live ... and I refuse to go hacking around to find out.

That would be unethical.

EDIT: And yes, I've got all those choppers you mentioned and pictured and a whole lot more. Sort of "chopper crazy."

My first chopper ever was a Junglas, which I bought about a year or so ago. I like the blade a lot, and still own it, but it doesn't see much any more.

Since then, I have owned a few Busse & Kin choppers and handled a few more.

I have found that for my purposes, the Dog Father is in the front of the pack for choppers 10" or longer. The reason that the BWM never stayed around and why I never pulled the trigger on a FFBM or NMFBM was because of the fact that the handles just don't work for me. I'm cursed with smaller hands that are unable to find a good grip on the Fusion and Bushwhacker handles. Plus I think that Res-C excels on a chopper due to its superior comfort & cushioning of vibration (just my opinion, I'm sure many think differently.)

I have not yet handled a B-11, so I can't comment on whether it would out perform the DF. The B-10 at .25" sure seems like it will be a winner. I am also very excited for the LBNMSHBM, because I think the handle will work for me better than the other mistresses.

So for me with my limited experience and knowledge of Busse & kin choppers, the monstrous Dog Father wins. I'd also say that my NMSFNO is by far my favorite Busse chopper. I haven't decided yet which is my favorite between the two, as each have their strong points.

Having handled a DFLE and a B11, I concur. You'll love the B11. Not sure if it's true or not, but the Res C handles of the B11 seems just a skosh smaller than the DFLE, and me being cursed with smaller hands as well, I prefer the B11 to the DFLE. Having said that, I really regret selling my DFLE as it was one tank of a blade, and I think the ridge on the spine/the thumbramp combined with the squared edges on the spine make the DFLE the most attractive of the 10 inch choppers.

If the B10's are .25 or thicker INFI, with all the other benefits of being so similar to the DF and the B11, it'll be winner for sure.
