The sun will cause the antler to develop surface cracks and bleach out the color.
Might want to turn them over every so often. It is dry enough where you are that you should not have trouble with mildew.
No Mildew and plenty of HEAT are not a problem here!

Sorry man, I don't think I've ever heard of someone wanting to make it look old.... Isn't the aging you're looking for caused by a leaching of calcium?
cut it down to a bit larger than the scales you need - Try Micro-wave for a few minutes - re-peat a few times to dry it out - I use leather dye - I like the look - here's brown dye on smoth bone - but antler turns out about the same - tom
