I'm new to these knives and it looks like Andy no longer takes orders, the dealers don't have too much in stock outside of a ton of recluses, and the occasional ones pop up on here. Is there any places that I don't know about to check for them or do I just have to be checking those places constantly?

I always post batches of knives here as I finish them. In each batch there are several that aren't spoken for. If you see one you like, give me an e-mail or a call, and I'll sell it to you.

Please go check out Lee's Cutlery.

He has knives in stock.

A 16 knife batch will be ready by Wed or Thu. Several are unspoken for including 2 Camp Choppers, and 2 Comp Cutters.

I'll sell you one of mine for a million dollars! ;)

I would think about one of the production Recluses if you are looking for a new knife and want it now ( just checked Lee's Cutlery website & he has some very cool Fiddlebacks) . I have knives from Bark River and 2 from Andy. Bark River makes great knives and Andy has a great design with that knife so I don't think you could go wrong with one of those.. I've bought stuff from Knives Ship Free and they are a first class operation who will treat you right.

If you are like most of us, you will end up with more than one knife from Fiddleback Forge!

any convex ground hiking buddies in there??

No, but there are 2 A2 Hiking Buddies coming soon.

How do you "speak" for a knife?

The spoken for knives are either for dealers or for orders (soon to be no more). Or, someone has beat you to a knife by claiming it from WIP threads before I've even finished it.:o

Yes. I sell the knife to whomever posts or emails earlier.

You've got your eye on a great knife.

I finally really used mine this past weekend. Prior to that, it was just a few fun little sessions in the kitchen. But this past weekend I was backpacking in the Glass Mountain Range in Mono County (CA), and took it, and used it on food, for various minor utility cuts, and to make some odd, useless, but fun little wood sculptures out of very dry lodgepole pine wood while we sat around camp Saturday night.

Wonderful knife. Great control and capable of surprisingly fine work while also being able to do fairly substantial work. For my medium-sizeish hand, it fits very nicely. It's fairly light for its size too, which matters a lot to me. My companions were all quite impressed that what to their eyes looked like a really burly knife (their reference for a good knife is a simple SAK) could produce such controlled, detailed carving. One guy was also impressed that it shaved the hair off his arm after I was done for the evening.

Sorry about a lack of pictures. Great knife; thanks Andy!
