The Exchange rules have been updated/modified to the following:

SECTION 2 - Rules/Procedures for Selling, Buying, Trading, & Offering Services:
The implementation of common sense is strongly encouraged beyond this point. This applies directly to the persons involved in the transactions.

Sellers/Selling -
  1. Be 100% sure that you want to sell the item, have it in your possession and clearly list the TOTAL selling price.
    • There is no "testing the waters" or "gauge buyer interest".
    • "Net to me" needs to be figured into your LISTED PRICE
    • Insurance is the responsibility of the SELLER not the Buyer. This is for your protection.
    • Paypal "friends & family" is STRONGLY DISCOURAGED. This is for your protection.

In plain English, there will be no more "net to me" sales or add 3.5%, 4%, or 30% PayPal fees ... sellers need to do their own math and list a TOTAL selling price shipped.

Insurance is the responsibility of the SELLER, NOT THE BUYER.

If buyers use PayPal and pay with "friends & family" and you do not receive what you paid for, do not come crying to the Mod staff on Bladeforums... you're on your own.

I have been following the bladeforums for proabably 5 yrs looking and reading. I have decided I may want to buy a knife when I see one I like sorry if this is somewhere on the site but, how do you email the person or pay them. How do you know you can trust to get the knife. Do tey email you directions where to send payment? I have paypal on ebay but, it is somehow already in the system. LOL!!! sorry but, can someone on here please help me I am not great on the computer.

Typically, you post in the thread, "I'll take it."
Supply an email address so that they can email you their payment information.
(You can go back and edit your post to remove the email address later if you want. Or it's easy enough to set up an email account just for such purchases if you are afraid of spam.)
Most sellers accept paypal.

Here is a link to the rules for the exchange. It has rules for both sellers and buyers:
http://www.bladeforums.com/help/exchange-rules/

You can also post on their profile page with your Email-I don't believe non members can see that.
If you have any ?'s ask them before the I'll take it, and most prefer Pay Pal(some take other forms of payment such as USPS money orders). Be sure to pay PP G&S(goods and services) rather than friends family/gift. G&S will give you protection if you don't get what you are expecting.
PP will protect you if you don't get the knife and the BF community will have your back also.
Buying is supper easy, stopping is the hard part :)-good luck

Yes - be the first to post in the thread that you will take the knife and provide an email address for the seller to contact you. Be certain to be attentive to your incoming emails and be prompt to pay or the sale could go away from you.

Since you already use PayPal with eBay you have a PP account. Good idea to go to PayPal and follow the links to make certain your account is in good working order - that PP has all the info they need from you. The BF seller will provide info - his/her PayPal email account, for you to send payment.

In order to send payment you will need to go to PayPal and click on SEND and REQUEST. Type in the sellers email and type in the amount you wish to send. The seller will help if you need some guidance. The seller wants to make the sale and get paid so he/she will be your ally in this process.

As for TRUST - do your homework. Check the sellers feedback here on BladeForum and maybe even check out their profile page and read some recent posts. You'll get an idea of who you are dealing with. Most sellers here are very trustworthy but doesn't hurt to be diligent. If your little voice tells you to back out - trust your voice.

Since you don't have any buying history and to date, only 2 posts here on the forum, you could raise more issues about trust than someone with hundreds or thousands of posts and lots of feedback BUT as a buyer your only real responsibility is to make certain that you pay promptly and communicate effectively.

Have fun with it and be sure to get a strong rubber band or padlock for your wallet. :) You could be going down a deep well of spending.

Welcome, welcome and enjoy!
