How Do I Care for an Elec. Chainsaw?

My mother gave me a used electric chainsaw yesterday. It's a Craftsman and I believe it has 2.5 hp.

I have no instruction manual for it and the Craftsman website doesn't have a manual for it online.

What sort of oil do I put in the oil reservoir? Is standard houshold oil sufficient for oiling the chain? What other care does it need other than oil?

Also, what is the black button for on top of the handle? It's not the safety, and it doesn't seem like an engage lock.

Thanks.

Use a Sthil or other similar brand "bar oil". You can get some at Walmart, Poulan brand, I believe.

I bet you can find instructions on line. If not, I was on a forum tonight that was all about various gas/electric motor tools (snowblowers, mowers, blowers, etc.) and they seemed like a knowlegable group. I could probably find it again if you need it. ;)

I have a Milwaukee and all I do is keep proper chain tension and keep the bar lubed. While they have special oil a good motor oil will do.

Black bulb?

Does it look like a primer bulb off a carb? It may be the thingie to put the oil on the chain. After you fill the oil, try pushing it.
