My new Dell (by Logitech) wireless mouse is not acting how I want it to.. I have gone to the setting at the mouse icon, but changing the scroll speed, etc. didn't change it.

When I use the scroll wheel to scroll on a page, the damn thing automatically scrolls 4 times even tho I only turn it once...In other words, it keeps scrolling for awhile "by itself", and usually goes past what I want it to.

I'm using XP and Explorer 7 on a Dell Dimension 8200 Desktop. How do I fix this so that it acts like a "normal" scroll wheel? (It WAS working "normally" untill I downloaded the XP updates yesterday..).

(It WAS working "normally" untill I downloaded the XP updates yesterday..).

Looks like the update installed the Windows mouse driver. You need to reinstall the Logitech driver for that particular mouse. You should be able to google it up right away -- look for a model number on the mouse.

Well, I re-installed the mouse driver, but that didn't solve the problem. However, I've plugged in a Microsoft corded optical mouse, and that seems to have solved my scroll problem. This one fits my hand better, anyway, as the Dell mouse was too large, and shaped wrong for me since I use my left hand for the mouse...(Yah, I'm a "lefty".). My "old" Microsoft mouse also seems to have alot better, smoother, & quicker response than the wireless Dell one, (and yes...the batteries in the wireless mouse were ok).
