How do I clean canvas micarta?

It's been less than a week since I've received my ESEE Junglas and the canvas micarta is already dark with dirt and stuff. I also found my dog licking the handle with left it wet for a bit. Do I just scrub it with some light soap and water or is there a special way?

I know I know, dirt and scratches give a knife character. blah blah. whatever. Id like to clean it.

Soap and water and a scrub brush will restore it rather well. The fiber in the canvas is a little bit absorbant. After a long weekend the handles darken up. Some folks just let them season up dark and others scrub them clean. Micarta can take either. Oil leaves a mark but it dissipates.

Yah, they do get a bit slippery though when saturated with dirt and oils, but it looks very nice.
