I recently bought a leo damascus, and unlike some people who put these knives on shelves and display them, I do want to carry it. I will not be carrying it all the time, just some of the time. One thing I have noticed since I have owned it is how prone it is to rusting. I figured this would be the case, but I am not sure how to properly clean it to remove the rust.

I have some acid that I use to clean rust off of die parts and metals we use in the shop. I am afraid though, that it will mess up the damascus patern. How do I properly oil and clean this blade without messing up the pattern? What kind of oil could I use to keep it clean where it doesnt rust so easily?

And also what is the best thing you guys have seen to sharpen these blades with? I know it is a hard blade and it is rough on my sharpening equipment. What do you all recomend?

My wife bought me one of these last Christmas. I have used Eez-ox to clean and maintain the blade and have had no rusting issues, and no problems with the pattern.
