How can I tell wether or not a knife will fit in my hand comfortably if I can't get a chance to see it in person?

What kind of question is that? You can't.

How do I know what a Strawberry Shortcake tastes like when I haven't had a chance to eat it?

You can't.

You can try to get some feedback from others by giving them a ballpark on how big your hands are, but really, that one is completely subjective and dependent on the individual user...

Basically, I feel that you can't really know how the handle will feel in your hand until you've felt it in your hand. Even people with hands that are the same size have different preferences in handle types.

It's not easy because the detailed measurements between undulations and/or choils on the grip are seldom communicated and same with the actual portion of the handle that your hand actually grips. Rather, you get an overall length, blade length, sometimes cutting edge length and sometimes handle length which often represent the overall length of the handle from heel to tang.

The only real way to know is to buy it and try it. If it ain't right for you then sell/trade it for something else. Depending on what make/ model it is it shouldn't hurt too bad....

if your hand is bigger than your face the knife will be comfortable.

If it matters:

The width of my four fingers is 2.5 inches and width of my palm is slightly less than 3.5 inches. However, the handle length on the knife I'm looking at (the BRKT PSK) is advertised as being 2.975 inches. Based on this, do you think it would fit in my hand comfortably if I used a four-finger grip? Also, do you think it would be better for me to get the BRKT Bumble Bee?

if you can find a flat-on picture of the knife, you can scale a printout so that it prints actual size. then trace it onto some cardboard and cut it out. that'll give you a rough idea, but really, there's nothing like actually hoding a knife in your hand.

I don't think there's any way to know for sure whether a knife will be comfortable. Knives that were said to be comfortable for others have turned out to be blister factories for me, and vice versa.

One would naturally assume that a forum would lead you to your answer right? That is why you are here. Most people will buy a knife that they believe they will like, once they hold it they know if it is for them or not. If it is not what you thought it would be, return it, sell it to someone else, or trade it for something else. This really is not a problem if you truly love and enjoy collecting knives like most of us.:)

2 people with the same hand size could have different opinions of the same knife.

one thing that never translates well in knife photos is the width, weight balance, and texture. unfortunately that's the risk we take when we don't handle a knife in a store first.
