I am new to doing many things in knifemaking so some helpfull advice is much appreciated. I really like the way Ivory Micarta looks on a knife but have heard it is diffcult at best to finish IE: polishing without getting black streaks or specks. Anyone who has finished it before please tell me the best method and materials to use. What is your favorite way to finish it?

Hand sand it through 320 grit and then polish it with white rouge. Make sure you get all the scratches out with the 220 grit sanding or they'll show up like a sore thumb. Take care! Michael

Be sure to clean your buff very well before starting, and tape off your bolsters/guards or the white rouge will pick up black off of the metal. Try to get it as smooth as possible before buffing, as the rouge collects in scratches and is tough to get out.
