I took my zt 0566bw apart to add a customized back spacer and now that the knife is back together there is major lock rock. I never experienced this with this knife before, it was solid. How can I fix this lock rock? Once I have this problem fixed my customized zt 0556bw will be the perfect knife. It is literally everything I could want in a knife. Thanks!

Likely, what is causing the lock rock is the aftermarket back spacer. Because the knife was made to the tolerances of the factory back spacer/stand offs, when you changed the back spacer the tolerances on the knife were changed ever so slightly. To confirm this, I would take the knife apart, put the factory back spacer/stand offs back in and if the lock rock is gone then the issue is with the aftermarket back spacer.

Now, to fix this. While I'm not one who does a lot of tinkering myself, what I would check first would be that the new back spacer is completely flush with both the flats of the handle scales and the edges. If not, you may need to sand the back spacer so it is totally flush.

Again, I don't do much customizing myself but that's what I would try.

I would like to add some custom parts to my knife, but I'm concerned about something like this happening when dealing with tight tolerances. Hopefully you are able to get the problem fixed without too much trouble. As Oxo mentioned, putting the factory backspacer back on would be a good place to start.

Where did you get the backspacer from?

the backspacer firmly fits around the 3 backspacer screws (for lack of a better term) that are originally installed in the knife. I doubt it has anything to do with the backspacer, are the any tips anyone has to fix it?

I don't believe they are referring to the alignment of the screws, but rather the actual thickness of the spacer itself.
