how do i get a emerson custom ?

i own a lot of emersons, but i don't have a custom. how & were can i get
one ?
 
Ok let me correct a few inaccuracies in that last post.

1. Emerson closed his orders in 2000. He no longer is accepting orders for customs. His wait for people who did make it to the list is at around 8 years or so.

2. Emerson makes some extra custom knives as he is making knives to fill orders. He puts these in the lottery at the big knife shows that he attends. If you get your name drawn you can purchase a knife at his table price which is $550 for most of the CQC line but can be more for very unusual pieces like the Xtra large fixed blade Karambit at the Chicago custom show last year which was 1K.

3. From what I have seen Ebay is not a good place to purchase one unless you are looking for a real screwing. The knives are not sold for under what people buy them for unless the person selling the knife has no idea what they have. The same knives purchased at the shows for 550 will be selling for 1000-1500 at the same shows after the lottery depending on model and how rare they are.

Your options for gettin a custom Emerson are to attend a big show where they are having a lottery and try to win one or to purchase one from someone who is looking to sell theirs. There are a couple places on the net where they routinely change hands. PM me if you are interested in some websites to try.

i have a couple of ermerson customs, a CQC6 and CQC8, great knives, hard to find though. the lottery deal at shows is ok i guess, if ya go to a lot of shows emerson goes to, andf ya win of course. his knives run $550 and up from him, have heard of a prototype that went for $1500 IIRC, so they can be pricey even from ernie. imho the best way to get one is to go to the emerson forum (no not the EKI site, if ya dont know what i'm talking about EM me and i'll send ya a link) and watch for one for sale from one of the members, seems like CQC8's are the most common, they run $850 to $1000 or so, CQC6's run more like $1200 to $1500. i would say ebay would be my last choice, i have seeen '8s go for $1500 on ebay, '6s IIRC $2000. so main thing is if ya really want one, get about $1K up, and wait till ya see one for sale on the emerson forum, then jump on it, they never last long if priced ~$1K, so ya gotta have the $$ ready to go. oh and occasionally TAD gear has a custom for sale, usually in the $1400 or so range, i guess they have a deal with ernie, i know knifeart and others rarely have emerson custom folders, very rarely.
