I have a BRKT Gunny with the shiny micarta grips and I have found it to be a little slick when wet. What can I do to give it a little more grip with out screwing any thing up? The handle shape on it is great so i never got close to the cutting edge, just felt a little slick.

Similar to the bike tire idea, you could also use athletic grip tape. It's a cloth like tape sold at athletic and sporting goods stores, used to wrap the handles of things like hocky sticks, bats, and such. Works great and can be removed or reaplied any time you want. Comes in a wide variety of colors as well.

If you want something more permanent, you can scuff the knife handle with a low grit sand paper, or work some pattern in to the scales with a file or dremel.

I say go ahead and rough it up with some 320 grit or 220 grit emory paper. In the even that you ever want to return it to original, just polish it out using 800 grit paper.

I wrap hockey tape or baseball grip tape around the handles of hunting knives I have with slick handles. The tape doesn't really leave that much residue on the scales and it can be cleaned off easily. I rewrap mine regularly and they are fine underneath. You don't need to wrap the whole handles, just a small section will greatly improve your hold on it.

I've also thought about adding some checkering to the scales with a dremmel tool, sort of like a pistol grip, but I would only do this to my heavy users, like my RAT-7.

You can also put some skateboard deck tape on the handles if you want a lot more grip. You can buy it at hardware stores for putting on steps to add traction.

There is a product from 3M called Stair Step tape. I use it all the time to cover my pocket clips. You can cut it to shape and/or smaller pieces that you can place in some strategic places to enable a better grip. It comes in black. The adhesive is very good on this tape, but at the same time, it can be easily removed.

I lightly sanded the gloss off the micarta with 220 grit on a bravo1. It took about 30 seconds. Now its perfect. Great grip when wet. After a ton of use,it was filthy, another light sanding got it looking new.

Thanks for the suggestions, it will be getting at least one done to it in the next day or 2. Like I said it really doesn't need much it just has that slick feeling, about what the ESEE 6 grips feel like would be perfect.
