New to the forum! Can not figure out how to attach photos and make them come up at full size, not thumbnails!!

Help please,

Thanks

Rather than use the form you need to use a photo hosting site. Photobucket is just one example.

imgur.com is another. When you upload directly to the forums, you will always get thumbnail images, but they get large when clicked. SOme folks like to use pictures that are 400MB in size, I kill those when I see them.

It's a bit laborious to post full size images through the forum, but you can open your attachment in a new window then copy and paste the address line and use the
tags. :)

You go from this:

Bonaly_WhiteHill_from_TorduffHill.jpg

To this:

attachment.php

There may be easier ways to do it through the forum, but at least you are only dealing with one website etc that way. The picture hosting through the forum isn't great but it's not totally rubbish either. :)

And then, you just wait until Gandalf crests the hill.

(Great picture, and a workaround I use when quoting others' 'attached' images.)

Could someone please explain what this means in layman's terms because I am also trapped in the thumbnail world and I would rather not get a Photobucket account if it can be done without one. I really find it mind-boggling that everyone seems to know how to paste full-sized photos and I am trapped in this world of thumbnails. It makes me think I am retarded, LOL. So someone please enlighten me. Is everyone just using Photobucket?

When you want to post an image in large size using a forum attachment you can do this:

Make a post as usual and attach the image as usual, but before you post the reply go to "preview post", this will show you your post with the small thumbnail. Click on that thumbnail and open it in a "new window" (don't hover over it, I mean actually right click it to get the menue). The "address" of the picture is at the top of that new page in the address bar, right click that to highlight the address so you copy the whole line. That "address" is what you then post with the image tags to show the large picture. :)
