How do I get photos off an Ipad 2 that was dropped and broken?

I dropped wifey's Ipad 2, and she is bummed that the pictures were not saved, nor never uploaded to Itunes or nothing backed them up.:( I am in the doghouse. I have attempted downloaded Itunes onto this Toshiba laptop, and tried to get the data to transfer, but the ipad is locked up via the passcode, and since the screen is cracked, I cannot unlock the ipad to download the picture files. It is not the 400 plus dollars to my wife as much as it is the photos that she wants off it. Any ideas? Apple store could not do anything but wipe it clean and sell me a new one for 250, which is not bad, but I really do not like Ipads, so I will not be getting another one.

I am gonna try some independent computer geek type squad to see if I can get the files. Anyone got any sliver of hope for me out there?

Thanks,

CJ65 in the dog house. Arrrff! :p

If you plug in your iPad it should show up in the file explorer like a flash drive. There should be a folder that contains the pictures. I have never owned an iPad and it has been many years since I had an iPhone so I am not exactly sure where files and folders are inside the iPad.

I remember using iFunbox for viewing files http://www.i-funbox.com/

Thanks Aaron! I really appreciate the help. I will let you know if it works. I will try it today.

Thank you too Moose, the problem is that I tried it, and the passcode is locked on the ipad, so I see the attempt on the toshiba for the files, but the fact that I cannot put it in the passcode, makes it a dead end.

Best,

So it isn't like the little notebooks I have where there is an external SD card that you can pop out and put in another device and has all the pictures saved on it?

If mine did that it would be as simple as pulling that card out to have my pictures and most other files.

If it was rooted you could SSH in and upload the pictures to an FTP server.

I had the display die on my tablet but the touch screen kept working. Maybe you can blindly type in the password?

There must be a way to save those photos. Good luck. :)
