How do I get this fixed?

I was given a Dozier quite a while back as an add-on to a pay-it-forward item, but the condition makes it unusable. I would like to start carrying it (after getting it drilled/tapped for a lefty clip). How do I go about getting this thing fixed so that I is functional and safe? The warranty info on Ka-Bar's web site leaves me wondering if they will do anything at all, and there are no knife repair shops anywhere near where I live. ("We don’t offer repair or refurbishing service. Please contact info@ka-bar.com for referral. You also may have some luck searching online for a local shop or repairman.)

Call the Kabar customer service folks at 1-800-282-0130 and describe the issue to them, you may have a send a pic to them. If you don't ask them directly, you'll never get the right answer.

I certainly will do that. Their policy seems so cut and dried that I figured I better find out people's experience with getting repairs done before getting my hopes up that they will basically ignore what their web site says and do the repairs anyway.

I understand, but relying on other people's experience is a crap shoot. People who get what they want are going to be happy. People who don't get what they want, won't be. Each damaged knife was damaged in a different manner and what the owner say in public is not always the way it was really damaged.

In your case, you are trying to get a knife repaired to a usable condition that was already damaged when you received it. That puts a different twist on it.

Hopefully, an inexpensive repair can be achieved/negotiated.

That is correct. We are easy to deal. Worse thing that is going to happen in life is someone is going to say no. Give us a call (800-282-0130) or drop us an email with photos (info@ka-bar.com). Our Returns Dept. does an exceptional job and tries to go above and beyond to help.
