How do I prevent fingerprints on Mirror Polished Handles and what not?

So I have had this issue with my lighters and knives for a while, and I have tried a lot of stuff to keep these fingerprints from forming - anytime I ask I usually get the answer that they are inevitable and you just have to wipe or polish them off - which is not really an answer. I heard Ren Wax works but when I tried to use it on my lighters it definitely DID NOT work.

Anybody have a tried and true method to keep fingerprints off any mirror polished finish? Right now this is particularly frustrating on my Rainbow Leek.

I use a product called Renaissance Wax. It works fairly well. Nothing is perfect from what I have tried. It is worth trying. If you have some copper you don't want to patina quickly, it does a fair job with that too.

Mirrored surfaces won't completely resist fingerprints unless the fingers touching them are always kept immaculately clean & completely dry & free of the natural skin oils that make them. I've yet to see anything that prevents it entirely, and would be inclined to say there is no such thing.

A better finish to hide fingerprints would be a satin or brushed finish on the handles. But if the mirrored finish is the only one desired, fingerprints (and highly visible scratches as well) come with the territory.

Agree with RicFlair. Give Ren Wax a try. A little goes a long way so use sparingly. The more you put on, the more you have to buff off.

I did state that I had tried renwax and got poor results so I was hoping there were some other products that would produce this result.

I mean I can always just handle my knives and lighters with microfiber jewlery gloves but well - that is not very functional.
Oh well it is only aesthetic I was just hoping there was a known fix. It's not a major problem, just would be nice to maintain the finish while using the knife.
