How do I protect metal from corrosion??

I have a die-cast handle that I tried to mirror polish and under the top layer is a metal that corrodes VERY fast. I can leave a finger print on it for a minute or two and it will burn it's self in causing me to have to buff again.

So my question is: Is there a clear substance that I can coat this handle with to protect it? If not, I'm gonna have to blue them or something.

Thanks.

Die cast, is usually some hinda zinc alloy, sounds like you may have removed the plating.

Re plate or ,maybe several coats of laquer, not sure if bluing will react to the non ferrous material you have. You could have it professionally replated or order stuff from caswell and do it yourself. What type of knife was it?

mikes, it's sorta a secret at the moment but I'm doing some modifications on a balisong. Jaguar balisong to be specific. Handles should be Zamak.

And don't worry about it anymore. I searched around Brownell's and found a couple of things that should work.
