How do I put the pocket clip on?

I'm going to order a lockback kit from Koval and I want to modify it alot. Its for a traditional lockback with brass liners, engraved bolsters, and wooden scales. I want to knock the bolsters off because I don't like the pattern and make full length G10 scales instead.I also want to add a thumbstud and a pocket clip.It doesn't look like there is room to put the pins for the pocket clip all the way though the handle without interfereing with the spring.Would it be strong enough if I only put the pins though the scale and liner on 1 side? Any ideas on attaching the pocket clip would be appreciated. I haven't ordered anything yet so if you think I should forget the pocket clip and just get a sheath let me know that too. Thanks alot.

Matt,
Normally the screws that hold the pocket clip on are put into one liner only. If you are going to put the clip on, you should make sure that your liner is thick enough to handle enough thread for the screws. Not enough and the screws will have a weak hold.

You mentioned pins for the clip. If you pin them on (peened pins), then it should work fine. Put them thru one side only.

Thanks, I was planning on peened pins just because I already have some brass rod. Now I can't wait to make the order.

I'm not sure about peening the pocket clip. You would need to do this on both sides of the liner. With the liners being brass, I feel that eventully the pocket clip would come loose. Also, will their be enough clearance?

The blades on the other kits I've made were hollow ground the full width of the blade, and I'm planning on making it to carry tip up so the pins or screws would be by the point of the blade. I think the point is thin enough That I would have clearance.
The liners themselves are pretty thin I think. Maybe 1/16" stock. I was going to use 1/8"G10 for scales. Would that give me enough bite to use screws? If so what kind?
Thanks.

Matt, I've never put a pocket clip on a knife that has brass liners. Back in the early '90s I made some sliplocks with brass liners. I *think* you will be safe, if you use three screws.

Good Luck!

Thanks for all the input everybody.I'll go a head and order a pocket clip with the kit. Now all I have to do is not screw up.
