I bought my cool little Husky Home Depot torx set and pulled the blade off my little Gerber AR. Out pop 3 washers and I don't know how to put them back. Can you please help?

Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I did that with my Gerber AR too. Those teflon washers are a PITA, aren't they? Iput the blade back in, then teased each washer into place individually with another knife blade before putting the pivot pin in. It took forever.

A couple months of hard use later and the washers had deformed to the point that the lock was too unsafe. And the blade never held a good edge anyways. Dissapointing...

You only need two washers really, one on each side to smooth out the action. The additional washer is there to act as a spacer because the knife wasn't manufactured to tight enough tolerances. If the washers are all identical then which side gets the extra one is anybody's guess. If they are two different sizes then the larger ones usually go on the non-locking side of the knife.

The easiest way to get any knife back together is to take everything fully apart, and then start building like a sandwitch. First goes the locking side liner, then the plade pivot, a washer, the blade, another washer, last goes the opposite side liner. Leave everything loose until everything is fit in properly and works as it should, then tighten everything down into final position.

what order do the 3 washers go in?
Sorry, I don't remember. This happened to me a couple of years ago. I don't think it will matter too much.

The all y'all who are suggesting dissembling the knife, the Gerber AR's have solid aluminum handle slabs with an integral aluminum backspacer on one of the slabs, and the whole thing is pinned and riveted together. It's feels very solid, but you can't disassemble it beyond the the point that dulaboy has it, and it's a wicked biatch to clean, especially under the locking liner.

Didn't rea;ize that as I have never owned one of those knives. It really is a royal PITA to get a knife back together properly if you can't get it comletely apart first though.

I thought it was like my CRKTs where everything comes off. Try the extra washer on the liner side. I think it compensates for the thickness

Yeah, either send it to Gerber, or buy a new one. Are you talking about the AR 3.25? I had that one, and while I really liked it, I had to get rid of mine to make room for more stuff.
