Sorry if this is a dumb question bit I haven't found a tutorial. It's one of Dad's knives that has all of it's snap and steel so it makes me sad that it's missing a rivet (pin?). Also, I like the feel of the wood and the design (I have several of these small serpentines).

The hole in the brass liner is only about .050" in diameter with the hole in the wood scale being only slightly larger so I'm guessing:

1) Get some .050" brass rod and cut to length.

2) Buck up the pin with the widest steel scrap the fits the slot and peen the brass pin with a small punch, hoping that it peens the the liner end of the pin also?

Is that correct?
THANKS!

No- you need a cutler's anvil. It's a specialized anvil with a flat "horn" that goes inside the blade well. You use a small hammer to peen, not a punch.
Since you don't have a cutler's anvil, and I do; AND it's your Dad's knife-it would behoove you to send it to me to have it done correctly.
