I recently bought a cold steal assegai spear and I dont know how to "repair" it. It came really pointy which I liked but the point got duller, how do i restore this? Plus only some parts of the edge were sharpened well when it came really how am I supposed to sharpen this, all I have is the Spyderco Sharpmaker. Any feed back helps, thanks. =)

I would probably sharpen it the same way you would an axe. Put it in a bench vise to hold it in place and run a diamond coarse stone down the edges til sharp then use the ceramic stones to finish it up.

Hello ive made 2 spears, just like a knife you need to remove material to make a new edge by thinning out the flat spots. for the tip repair i would flatten the edge to bring it to a point and then sharpen the now flat edge to a sharp one. if this kind of helps i can post some pictures id u need

How would I go about flattening the tip?

You will more than likely need to get yourself some stones, there are a lot to choose from. You may have better luck reading some of the threads in the sharpening section. There are all kinds of stones to choose from, and you must have some sort of good technique as well. It takes time to develop, this means a lot of practice and patience as you learn what to do and what not to do. Here is an entire forum section devoted to sharpening stuff:

I first put it in fridge then I use a hand held grinder (don't have bench grinder). Make sure that you have a cup of water handy to keep the tip cool. The sharp point is not able to dissapate heat as well as the rest of the shaft. I grind for 4-6 seconds and then dip in the water. Keep this procedure over and over again until you get satisfied.
