I have a CS ATC. it is 1055 carbon and 21" long blade. I don't want to bust out my rock, as that would take forever. Any suggestions?

Clamp it to a bench and use a single cut mill file, one side, then the other. This will make short work of shaping the edge. You can finish it off with the file (the smaller the file, the finer it will cut) or switch to a bench stone. Some compound rubbed into a sheet of paper wrapped around a bench stone will do a nice job of finishing it off.

I use a file just like Heavy said. I ground mine thin, man the file eats it quick too! After the file I switched to a DMT XC to set a not so micro bevel. After the file and stone (10-15min) it's back to perfection. The CS factory "edge" is so lacking. Wait until you try a good edge on one.

I used mine today to clear heavy brush and small trees for three hours. Ya, it dulled to the point it's wont really cut you unless you try, but it still flies through weeds and wood. For the price they are great! Use, abuse, replace!

Am pretty sure a company out of SA makes many of the CS machetes, or at least they used to. I have a Panga and two bolos, one of which I sent to my brother in law as a Bday present. They hold up very well, nearly as well as the 1075 machetes I have. The one I sent to my Bro was done up with a fine mill file at about 30* inclusive and straight to a 1200 grit King waterstone, stropped on the reclaimed mud with a sheet of paper it was shaving my face. I actually sent it with a warning note...

As Honed says, the file work is quick and very rewarding.
