How do I start my first knife sale?

You go to the exchange and you start a thread, just like you did here. Make sure to post good clear pictures of the knife with a good description and any terms/conditions. Honestly if you look around at sale threads, you'll see which formats look best. Remember if it looks sloppy, it reflects poorly on the seller and you're less likely to get a sale.

Communicate clearly, and preferably with a price that is all inclusive of fees and shipping, so that "the price you see is the price you pay."

A concise description of the knife’s condition including centering & lockup (folders) and any imperfections is valuable (along with pictures of the same). It saves folks like me from tying up your mailbox with questions.

3ben gives good advice about one inclusive price to your door. Most people seem to use PayPal. A good chunk of folks will pass by any sales thread that mentions the Friends & Family option.

Good luck!

^^^ This(2&3) pretty much covers it. I'll just add that once you get a buyer they will expect reasonably fast shipping unless you let them know otherwise in advance. If it will fit in a small priority flat rate box that works well. Pack the item well and don't skimp on tape especially on ends and flap. If it has much value you may want to insure. It is your responsibility to get the item to the buyer in good shape and if lost or damaged it will be on you.
Good luck with your sale

All excellent advice.

Ok, just figured it out but now it won’t let me post pics bc it keeps saying that the files are too large. Any ideas??

I edit my photos to reduce the file size. It's easy on my Apple. Not sure what computer or program you use. If that doesn't work for you, you can always use an image hosting site like imgur, or photobucket and then insert the link as an image in the post.

Clear as mud?

I use iPhone pics all the time here but what I have to do because of the size is take the pic and then email it to myself. When I hit send it asks me what size to send. I choose the size that is less than 1mb. From there on my phone I go to my email and open the email, save the photo to the camera roll and use that resized image to post. It’s an extra step but it works for me. I hop this helps.

I usually just edit and crop out any of the background. This makes the pic smaller in size and file size.

I use photobucket on my Samsung Android phone.
Very simple.
Upload your photos, create a folder, on the photo, there will be an "IMG" code. Copy, and then paste it here.
That works for me.

For images, I prefer just using imgur. Add 1 or 2 of the most important shots, then link to the full album for exhaustive detail. That prevents gumming up the thread with too many pics, but allows a fastidious buyer to get all the details they need to make their decision.
