How do I strip the black coating?

I've got a BM Mini-grip that I'd love to strip the black off of. I'd also like to maybe try stripping my BK-9.

How do I do it?
 
Let us know how the mini Grip turns out. The Cabela's D2 mini Grip would be an awesome knife at a good price, but I do not like the look of the coating.
