I'm a newbie to this forum, My dad (no longer with us ) died a few years ago. He always carried a small pocket knife with him. The make of the knife is a Schrade. When closed the knife is 3 5/16" long. It is 3 bladed and has clip point main blade, a sheepsfoot secondary, and a penknife blade.

The main blade is marked SCHRADE, with N.Y. U.S.A. below it on one side of the tang and 832 on the other side. The handles have a bone or antler look to it, but I can't be sure if it is real. The handle on each side is riveted by three small rivets. One side has a very slender oval (not a shield) imbedded in it. I would be grateful if anyone could help me determine how long my dad may have had the knife. He died in 2001 at age 79 and was a WWII veteran.

thanks for any help

Ghags,
Your little 832 goes back a long way in the Schrade line.
The tang stamp of Schrade say from 73 onward. Before that it would have said Schrade Walden.
The handle before 72 was all brown. After 72 it has the bone look to it. Its probably Delrin but I have never seen one. Im just working off catalogs.
Im looking for the latest it was made and will get back to you on that.
It is in the 77 catalog for 10.00 I dont see it after that.

price in 71 6.75

I just bought a Schrade 832 on Ebay. Don't know much about it. It looks like an Old Timer kinda. . . I'm unsure of the handle material, and the tang stamp. I think it might say Schrade NY, but that's a stretch. I'll tell more when it shows up. Didn't cost much. Not many bids. One of those adventure buys. It'll be a fun one to unwrap and give the once over.
