I have a few older stag handled knives. that have turned yellow with time...is there a safe way of making them white again without dis assembly of the knife and without damaging anything?
Ive heard bleaching, but how do i do it? any other ways?

Thanks

Why lighten them? Age patina is an asset surely?

Fact is, I'd like to DARKEN some of mine!

The darkening/yellowing is desirable. On handgun grips, people keep them in the dark, away from all light, just to encourage the color.

So your saying sun light will whitten them, and dark storage encourage yellowing? Hmmmm....
Its just that one side is white with the rough scale dark ( which i love) the other side is Yellow with dark roughness...it just looks funny....i want a more even look.
Ideas?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder of course, but in my book a mellow, aged patina is highly to be sought after. I have used coffee with good results.

Maybe not the answer you want but if you ever change your mind, you could darken the whiter side a little bit.:D
