Zip tie a knife? I've heard the saying quite a few times and just cannot understand it! Can someone please explain this to me?

You need a knife such as a Spyderco or Benchmade with a hole that is used for opening the blade. Cheap knives with holes will work too. The knife needs to be a tip-up. Take a plastic Zip tie and attach it to the hole very tight. The locking part of the Zip tie needs to be on the spine of the blade. Trim excess Zip tie, and you have a home made Emerson Wave. Insert knife in pocket, and the blade will open when it clears the pocket. Very fast indeed. Big D1

I guess it would work also, if there is a re-moveable thumbstud. Just take it off and replace with zip tie.

Would it work?

Im still having a hard time picturing this.

crosman, yes, just as long as the zip tie will fit through the stud hole. You might be better off picking up a cheapie knife with a hole and trying it that way before removing your thumstud. I think a lot of the studs are press fit in the blade. Big D1
